One Green Frog Went Hop, Hop, Hop
Words are by: Deborah J. Stewart
Tune: Buffalo Gals
This little song about frogs can be used to practice counting and is great fun as a game or a fingerplay.
Game: At the start of each new verse, pick a child to stand up and hop. Keep singing the tune and adding children until all the children are hopping. At then end, have all the children sit down on the floor and pretend to take a nap.
Fingerplay: Cut out five green frogs from felt. As you sing or say each verse, place a frog on the flannel board. Have the children help you count the frogs by holding up each finger and bouncing their fingers up and down. At then end, have all the children fold their hands and pretend to take a nap.
Verses:
Hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop
One green frog went
Hop, hop, hop
Hopping on a lili pad.
Hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop
Two green frogs went
Hop, hop, hop
Hopping on a lili pad.
Hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop
Three green frogs went
Hop, hop, hop
Hopping on a lili pad.
Four green frogs went hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop
Four green frogs went
Hop, hop, hop
Hopping on a lili pad.

Stop, stop, stop,
It’s time to take a nap!
Wake up froggies!
Make a Handprint Frog!
I think I've just found our song for the week! This looks great. I'm looking forward to getting us all hopping. :)
