Preschool Song: Peas in a Peapod

There were five little peas in the peapod
Sitting in a long straight row.
Then they all rolled over
And one fell out
And away he did roll!

There were four little peas in the peapod
Sitting in a long straight row.
Then they all rolled over
And one fell out
And away he did roll!

There were three little peas in the peapod
Sitting in a long straight row.
Then they all rolled over
And one fell out
And away he did roll!

There were two little peas in the peapod
Sitting in a long straight row.
Then they both rolled over
And one fell out
And away he did roll!

There was one little pea in the peapod
Sitting all alone.
Then he rolled over
And he fell right out
And away he did roll!

Preschool Song: Stack the blocks

I wrote this little ditti after observing a group of kids playing blocks.

Preschool Song: Stack the Blocks

Tune: The Ants Go Marching In
We stack the blocks one-by-one
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We stack the blocks one-by-one
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We stack the blocks one-by-one
We are having so much fun
Then they all go tumbling down – to the ground
Boom, Boom, Boom!
Repeat and change verses to two-by-two, three-by-three and so on…

Play a Game
Set out some blocks and as you sing the song, have the children stack the number of blocks called for in each verse and when the song says the blocks come tumbling down, let the children knock their blocks over too!

See this post about how we worked together to stack those blocks!

An Orange is Appealing!

But you can't eat the peeling
So you better peel the peeling away!

Preschool Song: Red, White, and Blue

I have been working on some new songs this summer and will start posting them soon. Here is one for the Fourth of July! Grab a flag and march around the room!
Red, white, and blue
Red White and Blue
I'll make this pledge for you.
And hold up high,
In the sky,
The Red, White, and Blue.

Red, White, and Blue
I'll march around for you.
And hold up high,
In the sky,
The Red, White and Blue!

The Inchworm

The inchworm went for a walk one day
Inch by inch
The inchworm moves in a special way
Inch by inch

He goes up

Up
And down

Up

As he moves across the ground

The Inchworm went for a walk one day

Preschool Song: Little Ladybug

Little Ladybug

Cut out a large red circle from felt (ladybug) and 10 black felt dots (ladybug dots). As you sing the song, place the ten dots on the red circle. Then hide the dots around the room and let your little ladybugs go and search for them!

Little Ladybug on the ground
Doesn't make a sound.
Looking for her ten black dots
She lost them on the ground.

One black dot
Two black dots
Three block dots
And four.

Five black dots
Six black dots
She's looking for some more.

Seven black dots
Eight black dots
Nine black dots
And ten.

The ladybug who lost her dots has found them all again!

Preschool song: The turtle song

The Turtle Song
View more presentations from Deborah Stewart.

The turtle strolled down to the pond one day
to take a little bath.
He jumped in the water and flipped around
and floated on his back.

Then rub-a-dub dub he washed his toes,
Rub-a-dub dub he washed his nose.
Rub-a-dub dub he washed his shell,
Rub-a-dub dub he washed his tail.

The turtle strolled down to the pond one day
to eat a little snack.
He jumped in the water and flipped around
and floated on his back.

Then snap, snap, snap he snapped at the minnow,
Snap, snap, snap, he snapped at the flea.
snap, snap, snap, he snapped at the toad,
snap, snap, snap, he snapped at me.

The turtle strolled down to the pond one day

to take a little nap.
He jumped in the water and flipped around
and rested on his back.

Preschool Song: The seed begins in the garden

I am in the final stages of finishing my first children's song CD.  This is a sample of what will be on the CD and almost what the songs will sound like with instrumental from Phillip Jacoby

This version hasn't been "mastered" yet - do you like my professional musician lingo? :)

The seed grows

As your child sings this song, have the child bend low to the ground and as the seed grows, have the child stretch up to grow too!

The Seed Begins in the Garden

The seed begins in the garden
Tiny and small
But then it grows, and grows, and grows,
Big and tall!

(repeat)

I'd love to hear what you think - but be nice! LOL!

Oh, look at the butterflies in the sky.
Spread their wings and start to fly.

I'll sneak up close and try to catch,
One little butterfly in my net!

Five little cups

Five Little Cups

Five little cups are empty
Sitting on a shelf

I'll take one down and fill it up
all by myself.

Pour, pour, pour,
I will not spill a drop.

till it reaches to the top.

Gulp, gulp, gulp,
I'll drink it all up.

Gulp, gulp, gulp,
And leave a dirty cup!

(repeat above with four, three, two, one)

All the cups are dirty,
Sitting on the shelf.

I'll use some soap and water
And wash them all myself.

Wash, wash, wash,
I'll wash the dirty cups.

Dry, dry, dry,

Bucket and a Shovel

Nature Pie

Take a bucket and a shovel and go outside,

Dig, Dig, Dig,

Dig it up!
Stir it up!
But whatever you do
Don't eat it up!

Take a bucket and a shovel and go outside,
Dig, Dig, Dig,

Find a pile of sand and make sand pie,
Dig, Dig, Dig,

Dig it up!
Stir it up!
But whatever you do
Don't eat it up!

Take a bucket and a shovel and go outside,
Dig, Dig, Dig,

Find a pile of rocks and make rock pie,
Dig, Dig, Dig,

Dig it up!
Stir it up!
But whatever you do
Don't eat it up!

Take a bucket and a shovel and go outside,
Dig, Dig, Dig,

Find a pile of grass and make grass pie,
Dig, Dig, Dig,

Dig it up!
Stir it up!

Four black tires

Four Black Tires

Four black tires are on the ground
Hauling that car around the town.
They keep on rolling, and rolling, and rolling,
They keep on rolling around.

Four black tires are on the ground
Hauling that truck around the town.
They keep on rolling, and rolling, and rolling,
They keep on rolling around.

Four black tires are on the ground
Hauling that bus around the town.
They keep on rolling, and rolling, and rolling,
They keep on rolling around.

I Had a Little Red Balloon Presentation

I Had A Little Red Baloon

Have your children reach deep into their "pretend" pocket and pull out their "red" balloon. Stretch the balloon this away then stretch the balloon that away before starting this fun little fingerplay.

I had a little red balloon

pretend to hold up balloon

And I blew, and I blew, and I blew!
hold both hand up near mouth and pretent to blow up the balloon
And it grew, and it grew, and it grew!
spread hands farther apart each time you say "grew"
I tossed it in the air,
hold hands palms up and pretend to toss the balloon up
And didn't let it drop.
I bounced it on the ground, hold hands palms down and pretend to bound the balloon down
And it went POP!
clap hands together to make the balloon pop.

Songs in Spanish for young children

Carito Gomez is a blogger and facebook friend that I have just recently met. Carito shares wonderful songs in Spanish on her blog titled Fun for Early and Elementary Spanish Teachers.  Many of the words to the songs are written in both Spanish and English and also have a simple video for you to listen to the tune and words.

Here is one of the Spanish songs that I snagged from YouTube....

Preschool Song: Busy Bee

Busy Bee

Busy, busy bee
Busy, busy bee
Buzzing round the apple tree.

Busy, busy bee
Busy, busy bee
Stay away and don't sting me!

Buzzzzzz, Ouch!
Repeat song

Play the busy bee game!

  1. Have the children all stand in a circle and hold hands.
  2. Lift up arms to make a big tree.
  3. Choose one child to be the busy bee.
  4. While you sing the busy bee song, the busy bee goes in and out of the circle tree (or around the circle).
  5. When the song says... "buzzzz, ouch!" ... the busy bee stops and stings (tags) the child he or she is closest too and now you have a new busy bee.
  6. Keep playing until everyone gets to be a busy bee!

Preschool Song: Three Little Birds

Three Little Birds

Three little birds were taking a rest
Way up high in the baby bird nest.

One little bird said I'd like to fly
So he flapped his wings
(flap, flap, flap)

And he started to sing
(chirp, chirp, chirp)
And away he flew off into the sky!

Two little birds were taking a rest
Way up high in the baby bird nest.

One little bird said I'd like to fly
So he flapped his wings
(flap, flap, flap)

And he started to sing
(chirp, chirp, chirp)
And away he flew off into the sky!

One little bird was taking a rest

So he flapped his wings
